Message from the Governor
Governor, Imo State
My administration is deliberate about building a 21st-century Imo through digital technology. Over the past few years, the Government of Imo State has invested in expanding digital infrastructure, ICT training centers, and talent development programs under our Skill Up Imo Youths Initiative to position our youth at the center of the global tech economy.
To further demonstrate my commitment, I did not hesitate to approve the travel of the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development & Talent Hunt and the Special Adviser on Narcotics and Illicit Drugs Monitoring to Japan to finalize partnership discussions between the Imo State Government and GigBeing Inc, alongside other leading partners in gaming tech, for the direct benefit of Imo youth.
This game writing contest, alongside many others, is one of the flagship products of the Skill Up Imo Youths Initiative and a direct result of that journey to Japan.
This contest is timely and strategic. It will sharpen the creative skills of our youth, open them to global opportunities in game development, keep them productively engaged, and strengthen our message of saying no to drug abuse by channeling energy into innovation.
The winners of this contest will have much to gain, including a fully sponsored trip to Japan, strategic partnerships with international studios collaborating with Imo State, and cash prizes from our Japanese partners.
I urge all talented game writers, storytellers, and digital creators across the 27 LGAs of Imo State to participate. Don't just play games -- build them. Your talent is Imo's future.
God bless Imo State.
Signed,
Senator Hope Uzodimma

IMO/JAPAN YOUTH GAME CONTEST
A Dream Becoming Reality
For years, the Ministry of Youth Development and Talent Hunt, under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, has remained committed to one strategic goal: creating global opportunities for Nigerian youths of Imo origin, through innovation, talent development, technology, knowledge exchange, and international collaboration.
Today, that vision is becoming reality through the Imo/Japan Youth Game Contest.
This is more than a competition.
It is a movement.
A platform designed to unlock creativity, inspire innovation, and position Nigerian youths of Imo origin on the global stage of digital technology and game development.
It is where preparedness meets opportunity.
It is where imagination greets exposure.
It is where ideas become creations.
It is where talent discovers purpose.
It is where future innovators, entrepreneurs, and technology leaders emerge.
The Imo/Japan Youth Game Contest will serve as a launchpad for talented young creators, developers, programmers, designers, animators, storytellers, and digital innovators who are ready to showcase their abilities and demonstrate the immense potential of Imo youths to the world.
We firmly believe that the creativity, intelligence, and resilience of our young people can compete with the very best anywhere in the world.
If others can create games that entertain, educate, and inspire millions across the globe, Imo youths can do the same--and even surpass expectations.
To every young dreamer, creator, programmer, designer, animator, storyteller, and innovator, this is your moment.
Think boldly.
Create fearlessly.
Innovate relentlessly.
Build exciting worlds.
Develop groundbreaking ideas.
Tell compelling stories.
The next globally celebrated game could emerge from Imo State.
The next revolutionary digital creator could be you.
At the Ministry of Youth Development and Talent Hunt, our mission remains clear: to create opportunities that empower young people to discover their potential, develop their talents, compete globally, and contribute meaningfully to society.
The platform is here.
The opportunity is here.
The future is here.
The only question is:
Are you ready?
This is not just a game contest.
It is a challenge to dream bigger.
To innovate further.
To create boldly.
To build the future through technology, creativity, and gaming.
Let the Imo/Japan Youth Game Contest begin.

Our relationship and shared vision began from a remarkable and unexpected meeting with Mr. Taku at the departure hall of Athens International Airport. What started as a simple conversation soon evolved into a meaningful connection built on mutual respect, shared ideas, and a common passion for innovation, creativity, and global collaboration.
From that very moment, the relationship continued to grow steadily into a strategic partnership focused on creating opportunities for young people, supporting digital transformation, and promoting the creative economy across Africa.
A major turning point in this journey was the introduction of my good friend, Honourable Ezechukwu Nnamdi Obonna, the Special Adviser on Narcotics and Illicit Drugs Monitoring to the Imo State Government. That singular moment brought a completely new dimension to our discussions and significantly transformed the narrative. It opened wider doors for institutional support, credibility, and deeper engagement with stakeholders who share the same passion for youth empowerment, innovation, and social development.
Equally significant was the important role played by the Honourable Commissioner for Youths Development and Talent Hunt of Imo State, Dr. Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu, whose encouragement, support, and commitment to youth empowerment further strengthened the vision behind this collaboration. His dedication to talent development and the advancement of innovative initiatives in Imo State provided additional momentum and institutional confidence toward the realization of this shared dream.
Another defining milestone in this growing relationship was our trip to Japan at the special invitation of Mr. Taku. The visit offered us firsthand exposure to Japanese innovation, technological advancement, digital creativity, and the immense possibilities that emerge when cultures and ideas come together with purpose.
The experience in Japan further strengthened the bond of trust, friendship, and collaboration between both parties. It also reinforced our collective vision of building sustainable bridges between Africa and Japan through technology, talent development, creativity, and intercultural exchange.
Today, the collaboration between Ebelebe Trading and Investment Company Ltd and GigBeing Inc. continues to demonstrate the power of visionary leadership, strategic cooperation, and international partnership. Together, we remain committed to empowering young creatives, digital entrepreneurs, and emerging innovators by creating platforms that inspire excellence and unlock global opportunities.
This collaboration is not merely a business relationship; it represents a movement dedicated to community empowerment, innovation, talent discovery, and the advancement of Africa's digital future.
The forthcoming initiatives and competitions in Owerri are only the beginning of even greater accomplishments ahead. With commitment, professionalism, and shared purpose, this partnership will continue to grow from strength to strength, creating meaningful and lasting impact within Africa's digital and creative economy.

When I traveled to Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, I decided to visit Athens, Greece, because I had studied Western philosophy at university and had always dreamed of seeing the Parthenon with my own eyes.
At the airport, my boarding pass had neither a gate number nor a seat number printed on it. I was confused and unsure what to do.
At that moment, I met a well-dressed and kind Nigerian gentleman. He noticed my situation and generously helped me board the flight.
That man was Chim.
Before we parted ways, Chim told me, "When you return to Japan, let's work together to develop entertainment between Nigeria and Japan."
Today, thanks to the tremendous efforts of Commissioner Mandela, Hon. Obonna, Chim, and many others, that conversation has grown into this Digital Creators Contest.
I believe the incredible talent of Nigerian youth, combined with collaboration with Japanese creators, can lead to world-changing entertainment and global hit titles enjoyed by people everywhere.
This contest is not only about winning prizes. It is about building friendships, creating opportunities, and opening doors to the future.
My team and I are committed to helping create those opportunities.
So, bring your talent, your ideas, and your dreams.
The creators of Japan and I are ready to help you turn them into something that can inspire the world.
We look forward to seeing what you create.
